Lina Montoya is a Jicarilla Apache artist from Dulce, New Mexico and currently resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is currently working towards her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA). With encouragement and support from her family, Montoya decided to pursue a career in fine arts. She is currently working towards her Senior Exhibition at IAIA. Montoya is a mixed media 2-D artist who draws and paints diverse illustrations. Her work revolves around the ideas of family, relationships, identity, and her experiences. She has participated in the exhibition “Creations: Where We Begin.” at the Institute of American Indian Arts’ Balzer Contemporary Edge Gallery.
