Bio

Lina Montoya is a Jicarilla Apache and Navajo artist originally from Dulce, New Mexico. She is a painter and illustrator who is now based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Montoya is currently in pursuit of her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA). Where she is in her concluding semester, working towards her Senior Exhibition show in April of 2026. She has been generously gifted the Norman TeCube Sr. Scholarship by the Jicarilla Apache Nation to fund her secondary education. Montoya has also participated in the exhibition “Creations: Where We Begin.” at the Institute of American Indian Arts’ Balzer Contemporary Edge Gallery. Her work explores concepts like family, relationships, identity and storytelling.
